“I began my career as an apprentice Fitter and Machinist with a local engineering firm, working on a wide variety of mechanical projects — many of which involved hydraulics. After completing my apprenticeship and becoming qualified, I was promoted to Team Leader of the fitting and machining department.”

“Two years later, I joined a large industrial shed manufacturing company, where I spent the next 18 years. My role as Maintenance Engineer involved sourcing and commissioning new roll-forming machinery, setting up preventive maintenance programs, and ensuring smooth production operations.”

“After three years in that position, I established a complete machine shop from the ground up — equipped with general machining tools, a CNC mill, and a machining centre. Over the next 15 years, I designed around a dozen special-purpose machines, including automated punch and press lines, a 200-ton hydraulic press for plate processing, and state-of-the-art roll formers with hydraulic servo control. Many of these projects earned multi–BHP awards for innovation in metal roll forming.”

“Despite enjoying my work, I always had a strong desire to run my own business. That opportunity came in 2003, when I purchased a small hydraulic company in Shepparton — GV Hydraulics.”

“I’ve always loved mechanical engineering. From the age of 14, when I built my first go-kart, I’ve been fascinated by how things work — especially hydraulic systems.
