Louis Vuitton Preliminary Regatta Sardinia

The Louis Vuitton Preliminary Regatta Sardinia in Cagliari, 21–24 May 2026, marks the official beginning of the road to the 38th America’s Cup in Naples 2027. Racing will feature the spectacular foiling AC40 yachts, capable of speeds exceeding 40 knots, in the first true head-to-head test between the world’s leading America’s Cup syndicates.

The challengers include:

  • GB1 / Athena Racing (United Kingdom)
  • Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli (Italy)
  • Tudor Team Alinghi (Switzerland)
  • La Roche-Posay Racing Team (France)
  • alongside defender Emirates Team New Zealand
  • Team USA and Team Australia will miss this first event.

 

Hydraulink is proud to confirm that all 12 AC40 yachts competing throughout the America’s Cup Preliminary Regattas, Women’s and Youth events are fitted completely and exclusively with Hydraulink hydraulic hoses and fittings, continuing a partnership with the America’s Cup that spans back to 1995. Hydraulink also continues to supply specialised hydraulic hose assemblies and accessories to Emirates Team New Zealand and the wider AC 75 America’s Cup fleet, where absolute reliability under extreme pressure is critical.

Key Information:

  • Boats: equalised AC40s, capable of 40+ knots.
  • Format: practice on 21 May; up to 8 fleet races from 22–24 May; top two then sail a final match race.
  • Teams: ETNZ, ETNZ Women & Youth, GB1, Athena Pathway, Luna Rossa senior and Women & Youth, Alinghi, and La Roche-Posay Racing.
  • Importance: no points toward Naples 2027, but important for momentum and early psychological advantage.
  • Viewing: live racing starts 15:00 CEST on America’s Cup website, YouTube, Facebook, and selected broadcasters.
