Bamaga Enterprises and Hydraulink Launch Community-Led Service in Cape York

New Local Partnership between Bamaga Enterprises and Hydraulink drives economic opportunity in Apudthama and Zenadth Kes, strengthening industry and opportunity in the Northern Peninsula Area.

Bamaga, Queensland – 1 June 2026

Hydraulink Australia has officially marked the opening and blessing of its newest franchise service centre in Bamaga, at the northernmost tip of mainland Australia, in partnership with local enterprise Bamaga Enterprises and respected community leader Reginald Williams OAM.

Operating under the banner Hydraulink Apudthama and Zenadth Kes, the new service centre reflects both the geographical and cultural identity of the region where Apudthama refers to Cape York Peninsula and Zenadth Kes to the Torres Strait representing a unique meeting of mainland Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures.

The opening ceremony, held on Monday 1 June, brought together community leaders, council representatives, and local businesses, including Mayor Robert Poi Poi, to celebrate what was widely recognised as a significant milestone for the Northern Peninsula Area (NPA).

Guests took part in a community BBQ, live demonstrations of hydraulic hose manufacturing, and a formal site blessing an important cultural acknowledgement of land, community, and shared purpose.

A Region of Cultural Strength and Opportunity

Bamaga sits within the Northern Peninsula Area, a region defined by strong Indigenous leadership, deep cultural connections to land and sea, and a growing focus on local economic development.

The establishment of a Hydraulink service centre in such a remote location represents more than a commercial expansion it provides critical infrastructure for industries that underpin the region’s economy, including transport, construction, marine services, and community operations.

Access to hydraulic services plays a crucial role in keeping machinery, vehicles, and equipment operational in remote areas, where delays in parts and servicing can significantly impact productivity. By delivering localised service capability, Hydraulink Apudthama and Zenadth Kes reduces downtime, strengthens supply chains, and improves operational resilience across the region.

Community-Led Vision and Local Leadership

Opening the ceremony, Reginald Williams OAM, Chairman and Franchisee, spoke of the importance of building capability within the region and creating opportunities for local people.

“Today is an exciting occasion as we celebrate Bamaga Enterprises bringing Hydraulink under the banner name Apudthama and Zenadth Kes to the region and beyond,” Mr Williams said.

“This new venture presents another important step in strengthening local businesses, capabilities and service delivery within our region.”

“We will be looking forward to growing this business, creating opportunities for local people and providing a valuable service that supports the continued development of the NPA and surrounding regions.”

The initiative has been more than 12 months in development and includes a fully equipped workshop, mobile service capability, and trained personnel delivering both hydraulic and diesel services locally.

Driving Local Economic Growth

Mayor Robert Poi Poi highlighted the broader economic significance of the new enterprise, reinforcing the critical role of small business in regional communities.

“Small businesses are the backbone of our region. They create jobs, support families, sponsor local events, and contribute to what makes our community such a great place to live and work,” Mayor Poi Poi said.

“The arrival of Hydraulink is more than the opening of a new enterprise. It represents an investment in local people, local partnerships, and local economic growth.”

“With a field service vehicle like this, it’s going to minimise downtime on projects you’ll have something fixed straight away.”

The new operation is expected to support a wide range of industries while also enabling collaboration with existing businesses, strengthening the local supply chain and creating new economic opportunities across the region.

Partnership, Skills, and a Shared Future

Speaking on behalf of Hydraulink Australia, Wayne Abbott, National Franchise & Network Manager, emphasised the importance of partnership and long-term commitment to the community.

“Today is more than just about opening Hydraulink Apudthama and Zenadth Kes it’s about investing in people, their skills and opportunities,” Mr Abbott said.

“This business will create local jobs, support training, and provide essential services to keep businesses and industries moving here.”

“We’re proud to be doing this with Reginald and the broader community. It’s about working together, building something meaningful, and delivering long-term value for the region.”

Mr Abbott also acknowledged the significance of the site blessing ceremony, noting its importance in recognising the cultural and spiritual connection to land and community.

“It recognises the importance of land, culture and community, and we are honoured to take part.”

Building Long-Term Regional Impact

Hydraulink Apudthama and Zenadth Kes is already operational, providing hydraulic hose manufacturing and repair services, backed by field service support to meet the demands of remote and regional operations.

The partnership represents a model of locally led Bamaga Enterprises supported by national capability, combining industry expertise with community knowledge to deliver sustainable outcomes.

Through this initiative, Hydraulink reinforces its commitment to:

  • Supporting regional and remote industries
  • Strengthening local economies
  • Creating employment and training pathways
  • Building long-term, community-focused partnerships
