Welcome to Hydraulink Tablelands: A New Chapter Begins
(L to R) Wayne Abbott – Hydraulink National Franchise Manager for Hydraulink, Joshua and Julia Davis, Maureen and Don Neville.
Hydraulink is proud to welcome Joshua and Julia Davis of TAM Industries Pty Ltd, now trading as Hydraulink Tablelands, as the newest members of the Hydraulink network.
A locally owned and operated family business, Joshua and Julia bring with them strong ties to the Atherton Tablelands region in Far North Queensland. Nestled inland from Cairns, the Tablelands is known for its rich agricultural landscape, thriving farming communities, and growing mining and civil sectors industries that rely heavily on dependable hydraulic service and support.
Both lifelong locals, Joshua and Julia are deeply connected to the region and its people. Joshua is a qualified diesel fitter, having built his experience working with John Deere and operating his own successful business, Tablelands Agriculture and Mining, since 2022. Together, they have developed a reputation for reliable, hands-on service supporting local industries.
For Joshua, the opportunity to join Hydraulink and take over an established business was a natural fit.
“The process of understanding how the Hydraulink franchise worked and what was required went smoothly,” Joshua said. “The challenges, as usual, were the banks but fortunately Don and Maureen run a great business and were well prepared with financials we could take straight to the broker.
The business was attractive as it suited my trade background and it was part of a strong brand like Hydraulink. We could walk in and the business would run smoothly there are systems in place. It will be a steep learning curve, but we are ready, and Don and Maureen will assist us with the transition.”
A Legacy Built on Dedication
The transition marks the next chapter for Don and Maureen Neville, who have been part of the Hydraulink journey for 15 years. Originally operating as a sub-distributor under the Cairns distributorship, they transitioned to a full franchise five years ago following Hydraulink Australia’s acquisition of the region.
Reflecting on that change, Maureen shared:
“I was really sceptical about becoming a franchise at first, but it has worked just as it was presented and has been a good experience.”
Over the years, Don has built a strong and respected business, keeping local machinery working reliably while developing a skilled team that will support Joshua and Julia moving forward.
“The area continues to develop and there is still plenty of opportunity out there,” Don said. “I’ll be staying on for a while to make sure Josh settles in.”
Their commitment to both the business and the community is also reflected in their choice of successor.
“We may have been able to sell to a few other people who enquired along the way,” Maureen added, “but we really wanted to sell to Josh and Julia. Don and I believe they are the perfect match for the Hydraulink network and to take over the business for many years to come.”
Planning for Success — The Franchise Advantage
National Franchise Manager Wayne Abbott said the successful transition highlights the value of planning ahead and leveraging the strength of a franchised business model.
“There are real advantages to planning well in advance when you want to sell your business. Potential buyers are looking for a well-run operation with strong financials, proven systems, and clear opportunities to grow as part of an established brand.
Don and Maureen did exactly that they planned ahead, transitioned into the franchise model early, maintained the business in excellent condition, and worked closely with Hydraulink to introduce prospective buyers so we could assist every step of the way.”
This structured approach not only made the business more attractive to buyers but also ensured a smooth and supported handover, reinforcing the appeal of franchise businesses in today’s market.
On behalf of Hydraulink, Wayne added:
“We sincerely thank Don and Maureen for their dedication and for representing the Hydraulink brand so strongly in the region over many years.”
Looking Ahead
As they step into their new role, Joshua and Julia are focused on continuing the strong foundation laid before them while growing the business into the future.
Julia shared:
“We wish Don and Maureen all the very best for their next chapter and thank them for all the support as we transition into running the business.”
With a combination of local knowledge, technical expertise, and the backing of a trusted national brand, the future for Hydraulink Tablelands is in excellent hands.
